Cherishing Joy in Lifeβs Brief Moments
Because some of lifeβs fleeting moments are the ones that count most.
Mywife once asked me, βWhat are you doing with all these pebbles?β
βI just like themβ
βWhy?β
βSee, arenβt they beautiful?β
Today, my 5 years godson, just back from school, walked into my room. I jumped up from my reverie as he announced his arrival.
βSon, you are back from school? Welcome.β I asked and answered my question.
The older kids always make fun of how their old man always asks funny questions to which he already knows the answers.
On his hand was a pebble of rock. βWhat have you got there?β I asked, even as he was stretching his hand to give me a chip of stone.
βFor me?β
βYes.β
βThaaank you. O God, bless my boy.β
My boy sauntered out of my room as I added the new pebble to my old collection.
My young man has been seeing my eclectic collection of pebbles by the window pane. Iβve never asked him to bring me any. Yet, heβs catching on with my boring hobby.
Iβm blessed and I know it.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
~ Holy Bible (Proverbs 22:6)
Treasure the lively little, memorable moments.
Cherish also, the (not so) mundane.
Well, may we make out time for lifeβs serendipities? These fleeting moments are often the ones that count most.
