Turn Your Writing Sessions Into Fun Time
From boring to blast, get more work done with these 4 handy accessories.
The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) was introduced into my country, Nigeria, in 2001.
Prior to that time, I utilized various forms of previous telephone technologies amounted to no more than a few dozen instances.
Before GSM, the only reliable means of connecting with smaller towns is by the old snail mail method. Thus, when my father died in 1992, it took 2 weeks for the message to reach my destination — from the village to the city.
Growing from first rustic analog devices, mobile phones and their associated telecommunication technologies has gone through several iterations ever since.
These days, top Android smartphones and iPhones can perform or replace dozens of physical devices with their ever-expanding array of functions. Incredibly versatile, their capabilities and functions keep on increasing.
Consumers are so spoiled for choice that they can no longer imagine what life was before our mobile-gadgets driven life dawned on us about two decades ago.
For writers, many free and paid software and apps are available to help improve their work. Less mentioned but equally vital are physical accessories. Some of these accessories can motivate you out of your couch to your workstation or your mobile where you click out the words of your next masterpiece.
These four accessories can spur you on to more and better writing in 2025.
1. Tabletop Phone Stand
A tabletop phone stand keeps you from bending over your phone screen.
When you pair a portable bluetooth keyboard with your phone, your writing productivity can quickly increase.
In use, the phone stand keeps my arms and wrists resting on my tabletop. This ergonomic design helps minimize or even eliminate metacarpals syndrome (injuries to the wrist and the numbness of fingers).
Both plastic and metal designs are available. I got a sturdy metal design for $4 equivalent.
2. Portable Bluetooth keyboard
A bluetooth keyboard makes for easier, faster and less error prone typing.
A fully metal foldable model purchased online puts me back by the sum of $30. Coming in handy for coffeeshops table tops or at airport lounges, this keyboard soon proved to be a great value for my bucks.
With it, your words are poised to flow effortlessly from your fingertips whenever inspiration strikes.
3. Tablet carrier case with a backlit bluetooth keyboard
For my Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite Tab, I bought a carrier case with a backlit bluetooth keyboard.
This is a preferable and a must-have accessory. It is all the more practical as you can use it like a laptop (on your laps) without the risk of your tablet tipping over or crashing. If you are not yet using one, you should. I got mine for the sum of $35
4. A tabletop laptop stand
Before I picked up one of these, I used to ask, "Why do I need another stand for a laptop that is already placed atop my office table?" But, once you start using one, your question will be, "Why haven't I got one before now?"
A laptop stand keeps you from slouching over your laptop keyboard. With it, you "chest-out" naturally and your eyes get directed almost parallel to the laptop screen. In use, both arms and wrists rest in their natural positions. Its ergonomic design eliminates the risk of arms and finger injuries.
If you type at your table in long stretches of hours, this is a must have laptop accessory. Mine cost $37, but I will gladly pay more for it as I find it more immensely helpful.
